Brilliantly original audio

We're almost halfway through this year and it's been another brilliant one for podcasting, with so many great shows springing up.

There are three in particular I've loved listening to in 2021 so far:

/// SmartLess

This pod is just a very simple combination of a great premise and three very funny co-hosts (Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes) talking to big names. It's also brilliantly edited and I could listen to Will Arnett's gravelly tones all day.


/// Wind of Change

Did the CIA write The Scorpions' huge 1990 hit Wind of Change to encourage the fall of the Soviet Union? That's the crazy question that this pod tries to answer, and very entertaining it is too. (Thanks to Martyn Walsh for the heads up on this one)


/// Song Exploder

If you're interested in music and the process artists go through to create their songs, this is a brilliant pod. Beautifully produced and always fascinating, Hrishikesh Hirway's Song Exploder is a treat.


The three I'm most looking forward to listening to in the second half of 2021 are:

/// BBC radio 5 live's Daily Euros

My old colleagues at 5 live are brilliant at putting out daily content during the big football tournaments so this'll be a great listen during the upcoming European Championships.


/// How Did This Get Made?

This series of deep dives into how terrible films get made has come highly recommended.


/// Crime in Sports

Another recommendation, this time by Kieran Maguire, and there are more than 250 stories of sports stars who fell foul of the law for me to work my way through!


It's been a massive few days for The Price of Football podcast with Kevin Day and Kieran Maguire.

Last week we passed the 2 million downloads mark.

And yesterday's European Super League Special helped us to our biggest day in terms of downloads ever, up 25% on last week.

Thanks to everyone who has listened so far and become part of the growing community around the podcast.

Kevin, Kieran and I are football fans first and foremost so it's a great feeling to know we've become essential listening for thousands of our fellow fans around the world!

Walking the Walk, the new podcast from TalkTalk Group which Dap Dip is helping to produce, is a great example of how audio on-demand can really complement a company's brand and show customers and employees of the future how they operate behind the scenes.

In each episode, a TalkTalk employee tells their story, how they've got to where they are today and how, as an employer, TalkTalk is great for them.

This week they've put out three interviews to coincide with International Women's Day, highlighting the various ways that TalkTalk is striving to make its workplace as inclusive as possible.
